Sound effects reminded me of the 8-bit, 16-bit sounds from N.E.S. Have the TV remote close by, in the event that it drives you crazy. Music/Sound - 4/10 (Music is good (when it doesn't cut off and go into the next track) and ultra repetitive. Gameplay - 6/10 (Watch out for the cursor (on the puzzle screen when selecting Gems to play, shops, taverns, etc. Animations on the main map of your character and the enemies are horrible. Graphics - 4/10 (Many of the still frames that you see within the Main Story are neat to look at. This is a great game to listen to your own music while playing. After about 30 minutes in playing this game, all tracks within the game would have cycled atleast once. There are 2-3 tracks that actually cut off and don't seem right. While all of them are really nice to the ears, they become repetitive and boring. The least important negativity about this game is the musical tracks. TV, the text within the game is hard to read.
I won't complain about the graphics too much, but even on my 42" High Def. The story is all over the place! The main quest doesn't stand out from the small side quests throughout the game.ģ. There were times when I was about to defeat my opponent and because the cursor jumped to another Gem while selecting it, caused the round to end in my rr!Ģ. The cursor to select the Gems can get a bit touchy causing many unwanted 'illegal moves'. Although I haven't gone through the whole entire game yet, I can make a solid review that this game has a bunch of problems, but is still an enjoyable game.
If you enjoy Bejeweled and RPG's, check this game out. Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords isn't for everyone. Puzzles and RPG elements mixed into one game, of course.FUN!
